Photographers honored at Sarasota Bay Water Festival | Arts & Culture

Sarasota, Florida - The "I Love Sarasota Bay" photo contest had local shutter bugs clicking away and nine residents were honored for their work at the recent Sarasota Bay Water Festival.

First place ribbons in the three age division were awarded to Mary Lou Johnson of Longboat Key, Victoria Holcomb of Sarasota and Makeala Frankford of Sarasota.

The photo displayed here is Frankford's entry. She won in the 13-18 age division with her picture of an owl peering down from its burrow in a palm tree.

The purpose of the festival is to celebrate the importance of Sarasota Bay to the region's environment and economy. More than 70 groups and organizations took part.
