Sarasota Veteran's Day Parade | Community Spirit

Sarasota, Florida -- Take a moment to honor the men and women who serve our country this Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

The Sarasota parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Main Street and Osprey Avenue. The route of the march will be west along Main Street to Hamel Park on Gulfstream Avenue, where the ceremony will take place.

The guest speaker is retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. George Hardy. Hardy is a highly decorated veteran and most notably was the youngest Tuskegee Airman.

In the Sarasota parade, marching units will include representatives of the veterans' service organizations, law enforcement agencies and fire departments and their color guards, marching bands and Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps units from the local high schools, as well as members of civic organizations. Historical military equipment will be on view.

The theme of the Sarasota parade and ceremony is "For Those Who Serve."
