The ranking includes reviews about both on court and off-court amenities, including lodging, dining, and professional and youth tennis programs.

The announcement comes on the heels of the finals of the 2013 Sarasota Open Men's USTA Challenger tournament hosted by the Longboat Key Club.

Ringling students mix ocean science and art

Sarasota, Florida -  Students at the Ringling College of Art and Design were challenged to use their artistic skills to help educate the public about ocean acidification, and they came through in a big way. 

Student projects entered in Mote's "The Art of Marine Science" contest included a board game, comic books, and an experiment kit and video for budding scientists.

Those projects were part of a course taught by a Mote scientist and they earned top honors at a recent awards ceremony.

Sarasota, Florida - A lot of people think Sarasota Bay is beautiful, but only a few really work to preserve it. And that's why the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program (SBEP) created its Blue Dolphin Awards.

SBEP recently announced the 2013 Blue Dolphin recipients.

Don and Denise Elliott with the Sunbow Bay Condominium Association on Anna Maria Island created a Bay-friendly demonstration garden.

Sean Russell helped raise awareness about debris getting into the Bay by forming the non-profit group Stow It Don't Throw It Project.
