Woman shoots at burglar breaking into home | Crime

Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man who may have been shot while trying to break into a home Saturday night.

The woman living at the home in the 4600 block of Stone Ridge Trail told police the man broke in through her glass door at the back of the house. She said she shot at the door twice and heard him scream. He then got in his car and fled.

Deputies issued a BOLO for the man's car and searched the area. Area hospitals were also alerted to a possible gunshot victim looking for treatment but he was not found.

He is described as an Hispanic male in his 20s of average height and build and clean shaven. The vehicle he fled in is described as a newer, clean white SUV with a Florida plate with Tampa Bay Buccaneers tag.
