Roommate disagreement turns deadly | Crime
Tampa, Florida-- Five individuals lived together in an apartment off of East 140 Avenue, two began to argue early Saturday morning, and one was found dead in a locked bedroom hours later, reports the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
According to deputies, 24-year-old Candelario Herrera-Vasquez has been arrested for the murder of his 26-year-old roommate, whose identity has not been released, after another roommate discovered the victim's body before 11:30 Saturday morning.
Reports say Herrera and his roommate got into a physical altercation and that Herrera used a machete as a weapon.
He then fled from the Tampa area and headed to Sarasota County, where he discarded the machete. Sarasota deputies uncovered it in a public trashcan.
Hillsborough Deputies say Herrera then purchased a bus ticket to Mexico and boarded a bus in Wimauma that had one stop in Ocala.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office was contacted, they dispatched deputies, and and those deputies detained Herrera until Hillsborough detectives could arrive in Ocala.
Herrera is being charged with First Degree Murder.
