Sarasota man arrested on child porn charges | News

Sarasota, Florida -- Deputies say a Sarasota man is facing dozens of charges after he was arrested for possessing child pornography.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children contacted detectives, saying an email sent through America Online had child porn in it, and the account holder's IP address pinpointed him to being a Sarasota Comcast customer.

After submitting a subpoena to Comcast, investigators learned the identity of the sender was 45-year-old Robert Hering. A search warrant was obtained and detectives say they found at least 50 images and videos of child pornography at Hering's residence.

Hering was arrested and charged with one count of Promotion of Sexual Performance by a Child and 50 counts of Possession of Sexual Performance by a Child. He was booked into the Sarasota County Jail Wednesday, where he is currently held without bond.
