Sarasota County, Florida -- County officials have issued an update on matters of public interest during Tropical Storm Debby.

EVACUATIONS

No evacuations have been ordered at this time.

STORM SHELTERS

Storm shelters have not been opened for this storm.

CLOSINGS

There are no closings other than road closing (see below) associated with this storm.

CANCELLATIONS

Parks and Recreation Summer Beach Run at Siesta Beach has been canceled.

GOVERNMENT OFFICES

  • Sarasota County: County offices remain open during regular operation hours,
  • City of Sarasota: County offices remain open during regular operation hours,
  • City of Venice: County offices remain open during regular operation hours,
  • City of North Port: County offices remain open during regular operation hours,
  • Town of Longboat Key: County offices remain open during regular operation hours,

ROAD AND BRIDGE

Richardson Road just west of Coburn Road is closed due to a stormwater culvert failire and partial road collapse caused by the storm. North Casey Key Road is blocked with sand and debris. 

Motorists are advised to avoid the following due to standing water:

  • 1393/1394 Harbor Drive
  • The intersection of Proctor Road and McIntosh Drive
  • The intersection of 29th Street and Leon Road
  • 5257 Avenida Del Mar, Siesta Key
  • 4156-4160 Roberts Point Circle, Siesta Key

Trees are down and blocking traffic on the following roadways:

  • Nokomis Grove subdivision
  • Colonial Oaks Park
  • Lemon Bay Park, Englewood
  • Albee Road and Edmondson, Venice
  • Honore Avenue and Kensington Street

Traffic signals are out at the following intersections: Treat non-functioning intersections as four-way stops.

  • 17th Street and Tuttle Avenue
  • Tuttle Avenue and Webber Street
  • Cattlemen Road and Wilkinson Road

SCHOOLS

There are no school closings associated with this storm.
