Pedestrian killed in crash on Tamiami Trail identified | News

Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota Police have identified the man who was killed when he was hit by a car Wednesday night as 27-year-old Devon Marie McGann.

Police say McCann was attempting to cross the northbound lanes in the 1800 block of N. Tamiami Trail around 8:40 p.m. when he was hit by a maroon-colored Cadillac. McCann, a homeless Sarasota resident, was killed in the crash.

The crash closed the northbound lanes of the major road for about 3 hours while police investigated. The driver of the car did stop and stay at the scene. The crash is still under investigation at this time.
