2nd person may be wanted in death of British tourists
News

Sarasota, Florida -- Court documents released Tuesday confirm Sarasota Police may still be looking for a second person in connection with the death of two British tourists.

16-year-old Shawn Tyson has already been charged with the murders of James Cooper and James Kouzaris.

But witnesses have told investigators they saw two black men apparently chasing the tourists before the April shootings, as well as two black men running from the scene after a series of gunshots.

"We never denied more than one person ran (from) the scene," Sarasota Police Capt. Paul Sutton said.  "We are continuing to investigate the possibility of a second person being involved in this case."

The documents released Tuesday also reveal robbery was likely not the motive for the shootings. Information included in court affidavits says both victims still had their watches, wallets and other valuables after being gunned down.

Tyson is still being held without bail in the county jail.
