Sarasota, Florida -- Attention comic book fans, it looks like May 4th is your lucky day! 

Sarasota County libraries are offering "Free Comic Book Day". Starting at 10 a.m., every child who visits a county library that day can choose a free comic book while supplies last.

Sarasota, Florida -- Florida Senator Bill Nelson (D) once made a run for governor back in 1990. Although unsuccessful back then, some supporters would like to know -- will he do it again?

Senator Nelson was in Sarasota Thursday to talk about long-term healthcare but the main question on many people's minds is: Will he run for governor? 

We sat down with Senator Nelson before his speaking engagement. 

"I have no plans to run for governor," he revealed. "I have no intentions to running for governor. I have a lot to do as Senator. I love this job."

Descendants of Sarasota firefighters are eligible for scholarships

Sarasota, Florida -- Direct descendants of City of Sarasota firefighters are now eligible for a scholarship to attend State College of Florida thanks to the generosity of a Florida-based law firm.  The $25,000 scholarship is funded by Sugarman & Susskind, P.A. in Miami which provides legal counsel for the City of Sarasota Firefighters' Pension Fund.

McDonald's rewards acts of kindness on Twitter

Tampa Bay, Florida -- Most of us perform random acts of kindness every day including holding the door open for someone, helping someone with their groceries, etc. and McDonald's wants to reward those acts.

Throughout the month of May, Tampa Bay McDonald's restaurants will reward each unique random act of kindness a person shares on the local McDonald's Twitter @McDTampaBay using the #BeDelightful tag in May with a Be Our Guest Card for the newly introduced Egg White Delight McMuffin.

Mail carriers will collect food to help Stamp Out Hunger

Tampa, Florida -- On Saturday, May 11, residents across the country will be asked to join the U.S. Postal Service and its letter carriers to help combat hunger -- by leaving food at their mailboxes.

The one-day food drive is the nation's largest single-day food drive across America -- including Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.

Residents are encouraged to leave nonperishable foods, such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal next to their mailbox prior to the time of regular mail delivery on Saturday, May 11.
