Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota is going to debut its new Library System's redesigned website on March 26. 

The library website has the same features as the old one except it provides new features and quick and easy access to information. The library website averages 21-thousand unique visitors a month.

Sarasota, Florida -- With the approach of the hurricane season on June 1, the Florida Division of Emergency Management and Florida's Foundation are offering a series of webinars on what homeowners can do to prepare their homes to withstand high winds.

SCAT Express buses will get Wi-Fi access on March 4

Sarasota County, Florida -- Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) has announced riders will have wireless network access on SCAT's eight Express buses -- serving Express routes 100X North Port-Sarasota and 90X North Port-Venice-Sarasota - starting Monday, March 4.

Designed for commuters, the 40-foot Express buses are SCAT's largest buses, with seats for 40 passengers.

Florida State Parks announces new, free mobile app

Florida-- Trees, lakes, trails, wildlife- they're all things that come to mind when thinking about Florida's parks. Techonology, smartphones and applications, howeverm are probably the last things to come to mind- until now!

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Park Services department has announced the launch of their new, free mobile application, which will serve as an interactive guide for users on the go at any of Florida's 171 parks, trails and historic sites.

Register now for second high school teachers workshop

Tampa Bay, Florida -- All Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate high school teachers from Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Manatee and Sarasota counties are invited to participate in a one-day workshop at The University of Tampa on Saturday, Feb. 23, to learn how to inspire students to take their interest in chemistry outside of the classroom.

The free event will be held in the Plant Hall Music Room on campus from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes lunch. The media is welcome to attend.

County science fair exhibits to be judged this week

Sarasota County, Florida -- Young scientists at the elementary, middle and high school levels will showcase their scientific hypotheses, research and conclusions as their exhibits are judged this week for the annual Regional Science Fair.

Doing well in this science fair a big deal for these students because the top two will have the opportunity to partcipate in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).

Sarasota County libraries are offering a sneak peek into the "Hottest Tech Toys for the Holiday Season" on Dec. 12 at 3 p.m. during a free webinar that will be available on the library website www.sclibs.net.
